swap for ages. I collect 9" x 11" rectangles - you cut to 9" x 5 1/2" to make a jar quilt - so
would love to be in your swap... and put forth the proposal to make the size of charm we swap 9" x 11". That
way you can cut two 9" x 5 1/2" charms to make jars out of (you can play "find the other jar of

If you have DGSs into that sort of thing I have the most wonderful design for a red back spider (Black Widow) from a
Jillian Sawyer stained glass book. I have always dreamed of sewing it about five feet high with a dark background and
the black spider with a red satin patch on the back, and silver quilting. But my friends all say that NO-ONE could
possibly sleep under such a quilt. One day . . . . . . . . (evil chuckles) Let me know if you are game to try it.

Hello again.. The Red Barn closed.... but we have a Hobby Lobby that has nice fabrics... and other stuff. Tomorrow's
Treasures is on 200 near Peggy's so its an easy jaunt. will you have a car to travel around in? I havent been to the
one in Deland yet either. Wow we will have fun.. would love to meet your mom too.. if possible. hugs Memere Neets

Hi, Alice, I used to live in Deltona (just down the road from DeLand) and I took my first quilting class at Judy's shop
in DeLand! I agree it is a sweet shop and the folks there are great. Please tell them Donna said "Hello"!

Then there are those of us that aren't in the Directory on purpose. One way of getting our addys is to ask that person
or ask someone that has been on here for awhile and they will find out for you and let you know. You could also ask to
'swap one-on-one' for certain fabrics. For instance: you post that you are collecting blue and would like to exchange
for what someone else is collecting (say red). You send them a FQ of red and they send you a FQ of blue. So just when

this you have to fill the form in which appears at the designated time, and to be someone who is recognised as a known

blue. Interesting...... Thanks so much for your help. I'll keep you posted. Patti in Seattle

We arrived Friday afternoon, after a detour to stop at a quilt show in Ocala! DH won a prize - a bundle of 3 fat
quarters! We stopped at MaryJo's in Gastonia NC on the way south. I had a shopping list and picked up all the
remaining fabrics for a project for my DS1 and SDIL. She loves quilts with dark backgrounds and jewel tones, so I have
a large project to work on over the winter. The pattern I'm using has pieced blocks and lots of appliqué, so that
should keep my fingers busy while watching TV in the evenings! Had to mark the newsgroup as read, as this computer
hadn't been on since the spring, and there were over 12,000 posts! I'm sure I'll catch up quickly. Back to weeding and
unpacking! -- Susan in Zephyrhills FL weeding the garden and unpacking enjoying the warm weather

Yippee, my 1st retreat. Not going very far, about 30 miles only from home.12 of us from our club will be wining and
dining and P& Q ing all day(s) long in a lovely hotel in lovely countryside, which I may occasionally look up from
SM and admire! Hoping to piece a top from a lovely book I bought from a lqs in Charleston SC when I was over earlier in
the year.It is called Blooming Nine Patch from Tradition with a Twist Book. I bought the 9 fabrics required from over
there, which only arrived yesterday! Was sweating a bit! This is the 1st time in a long while that I will be able to do a
top for me, and of course a in various POIPLEs! cant wait! -- Estelle UK http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/gallagher

Oh Estelle, that sounds lovely. Blooming Nine Patch is one of my very favourite patterns. I have fabrics collected
for a miniature one! 3/4" nine-patches!! I hope. However, it has slipped a bit in the order of what I will do
next. It might also get a little larger! I bet yours will look splendid. Have a great time. .. In message

Thanks for all the comments! They are fun and so easy to make. I am so glad I learned how to do these. Hi, they are
made out of homespun fabrics with a sheet used as the batting. Although I did make one for a friend made with flannel.

Posted by frood on Thu Oct 26, 2006 1:03 PM    Post subject: Squished!

Last week, I recieved a lovely bundle of Christmas fabrics. They are so cheery! Mostly blues, and they fit in great
with my other fabric. Maybe when I get back from Houston, I'll work on one of my Christmas quilts some more. I have
several in-progress, but haven't worked on them much lately. This squishie arrived when I was up to my elbows planning
Halloween costumes and birthdays, so offered a break from the madness. Then yesterday, I got a set of fabrics with a
spider-webby/crackled design - they look like spider webs, but aren't. There is an orange, purple and black version of
each - too cool! This one arrived yesterday, and gave a lift to Giles, too, who has been home sick with a nasty cough.
Both senders were thanked privately, but I wanted to share my joy with everyone! -- Wendy

Always willing to shop for a friend, I just gave their shop a quick toss. Their prices are a little bit high, they say
they will ship within 48 hours (which is better than 'when we have nothing else to do') and their shipping cost policy
appears reasonable. To test their 'search' ability, I typed in 'fairy' and then 'fairies' and wasn't shown the same
fabrics. I didn't find a design wall and always like to have one available. Conclusion - worth a try. Let us know
how it goes. Polly "mb from pa" wrote >I was wondering if anyone has ever dealt with Lady Button

I am trying to find the Beatrix POtter Peter Rabbit fabric in the pastel colors. I have been hunting online, but can't
find it anywhere. This is for the quilt that Mother's boss wants me to do for her grand-daughter in time for Christmas.
The original plan was for her to get all the fabrics together and send them to me, but she hasn't even started looking,
so....I told Mother that I would look for the fabrics and the cost of the fabric would be added to the cost quoted for
the quilt. Does anybody know where I can find this or happen to have some they don't need?? Larisa

It's just a form of reverse applique. Layer two fabrics both right sides up, and then draw a line (or picture) on the
top fabric. Cut along the line. Turn a tiny seam on both cut edges (either side of the original drawn line) and you
will have about 1/4" of the bottom fabric showing through. If the bottom fabric is black and the top fabric is
multi colour you have a stained glass effect. The more common/traditional form of stained glass reverse applique
would have the black fabric on top and you would cut holes in the black (turning under the raw edges) to show the
colour from beneath. -- Cheryl & the Cats in OZ o o o o o o ( > Y < ) (

Hi Cheryl, Sounds very similar to what I used to use a product for invisible hemming because I could not sew neat
enough. I can't remember the name but you put it in the hem turnback and just ironed it on and it stuck without any
ridges or hard edges. Great stuff for a dodo like me. It's about 1 inch wide. I wish it was available in yardage. --

I suspect it might be like light weight Vliesofix, which you can peel off the paper carefully if you want to. --

I mentioned a while back that I'd designed a baby quilt for my first grand daughter (due any day now) and that I'd post
it. Though I've been having lots of trouble loading graphics rich pages and doing much of anything in my photos album,
I managed to get pics of the front and back up. I used black and white fabrics in the yellow brick road pattern and
then fuse/appliques lots of brightly colored daisies around the border - if interested, go to
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/cbet_99/my_photos and look in the quilts album at baby quilt, front and back. Musicmaker

View entire thread: FAbric Shops in Columbus Ohio
Posted by Kate G. on Thu Oct 19, 2006 3:58 AM    Post subject: Re: FAbric Shops in Columbus Ohio

There are a couple of shops in the Columbus area... 1) the Glass Thimble -- on North High St (just north of OSU and
Riverside Hospital). In an old home (actually 2 buildings joined together). Lots of fabric... 3434 N High St
(on the northeast corner at the intersection of High St. and E. North Broadway 2) Quilt Beginnings -- has two shops --
the larger of the two is on East Broad St. between James and Hamilton (closer to James -- south side of street)
3409 E Broad St the other is in northwest Columbus -- on Sawmill Rd. -- just south of Sawmill and 270 -- on the
west side of the street. This shop is about 1 year old -- and while it has a lot of stuff --the other store has more.
6689 Sawmill Rd, Dublin, 3) I don't remember the name -- but there is another shop in Dublin -- between 270 and the
river. It's down a little side street about 1 block east of the big shopping center with the Kroger in it. I think
there is a gas station on the corner. It's down the block on the east side of the street. This is a small shop -- and
I've only been there once or twice. They seem to carry more homespuns and "country" type fabrics. 4) Quilt
Pox -- this used to be on Lattimer in Hilliard but they sold it ... then decided to reopen another shop. There is
still a shop in Hilliard at the Lattimer St.. location -- but I haven't been there since it changed hands. 3876
Lattimer St They moved to Mill Run -- which is just off Fishinger Rd. -- west of the Scioto River. That is a pretty
commercial area... it's in a strip shopping center -- not to far from a Lowes or Home Depot or something like that.
I've not been there since they reopened. There are other shops around that I've never been to. These include one in
Grove City (about 15 minutes southwest of Columbus), one downtown, one in Westerville. Forever Quilts is in Delaware
-- north of Columbus on US 23. (13.9 miles away) 57 N Sandusky St Delaware, OH Hopefully Gen will see this post
(she lives outside of Columbus) and can fill in my blanks! Happy shopping! Kate in MI (but used to live in OH -- has
family there now) -- http://community.webshots.com/user/K_Groves "Kiteflyer" <denny.ze@gte.net> wrote

be careful about the weights of that suitcase. soon you will be significantly over and pay a stiff fee. SAS has just
changed their rules so if it is over 32kg, they won't even handle it as luggage but goes as air freight (read $$$$) I
suggest not buying a bigger suitcase but get one of the very large soft-sided duffle bag things. almost impossible to
pack those too heavy and since they are soft, you can put bunches of fabrics in them. (I use one for transporting
yarns and fabric materials but the finished pieces go in my carryon piece. last week my carryon was suspicious perhaps:
