I will have to look and see. I copied the papers from online for each show that i have. I have them in a book. I just

No. I don't. I only hold on to the ones that have something interesting and that is only for a month or so. I did take
the time to download all of the scrapbooking stuff on their site including the template files (no video however). I have
it all in a PDF file. But, I find it hard to find what I am looking for in it. Their site isn't very well done. Robert

Hello Amy, I do traditional scrapbooking because I love the different papers, embellishments, textures etc. I do tend
to plan my layouts in PowerPoint to scale - just the general layout and sizing of the elements on the page to get the
idea of scale and see if the page would work. I make just basic sketches in PowerPoint. Then I prepare my photos in
PhotoShop. But the actual pages are not digital. I used to work in computer graphics so digital scrapbooking would
probably be easy for me but it would be be just like work for me... so no digital scrapbooking for me at the moment!

Posted by Amy in Springboro on Tue Aug 22, 2006 6:03 PM Post subject: Re: Birthday Pages
Welcome to RCS cuddlynn. I know you'll like the group. You have a great question, but I typically need a photo or two
to inspire my scrapping suggestions. Can you tell us a bit more about the event? Was there a theme? What size is your
intended LO? When you say "page honoring" does that mean you are scrapping a past event? How many photos are
you intending to have on your page? Do you have any papers selected? Here are my suggestions: 1. Scraplift -- find a
page that you like or inspires you and copy the format. Here are some sketch links that were recently posted on RCS:
http://www.dailysketches.com/mediagallery/album.php?aid=1&page=1 http://www.scrap-maps.com
http://www.memorycreators.com/sketches.htm http://www.theshakerbox.com/gallery/showgallery.php/cat/504/password/0
http://pagemaps.com/index.htm http://scrapbook-sketches.blogspot.com/
http://www.creatingkeepsakes.com/ 2. Tags are simple to make using scrap paper and can be as fancy or as simple as you
like. They can be mats for your photos; they can be journal boxes. 3. Journal -- birthdays are life's milestones.
What has he accomplished to this point in his life? What is going on in the world this year? Brads & eyelets are
often fun to create bullet lists. 4. ABC technique -- These are typically album where you have an A stands for
something on one LO, B stands for something on another. Use your boyfriend's name, having each letter highlight a
different word. 5. Timeline LO -- for a school project my daughter created a poster LO for Juliette Gordon Low
(founder of GS in America). Juliette's nickname was Daisey. I created a Daisey template to create a
"garden". Each flower had a photo in the center of the Daisey. The leaves had the year. The flowers were
arranged in chronological order to represent at timeline. For a guy, you could use a car traveling down a road with
street signs. Hope this give you some ideas or inspires others to make more suggestions. Good luck! Don't forget to
share your results with us. -- Amy L. cuddlynn* wrote: [quote:9d1f860974]Hello everyone! I'm a newbie to this group,

yet, but I'm willing to get started. Basically right now I'm looking for economical ways to create an awesome page. Any
ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone![/quote:9d1f860974]

I mainly make them for my own use but I have a friend who comes around with 3 one pound coins in her hand and asks me
to make something for her. She has lots of friends at a dancing club and likes to make sure the card she sends is not
like the ones the others send. I sometimes personalise the wording on the front by printing the greeting on to the card

Wow Shirley - the cards are amazing ... and your own website!!! I wouldn't even know how to start. Well done. Your
craft room looks very organised ... especially compared to mine just at the minute. The words "site" and
"bomb" spring to mind. Anyway, it's on my to-do list so I guess I'll get around to sorting it out before too
too long <sigh>. Do you make cards for your own use, or do you sell them? W "Shirley Shone"

I'm with you Barb!....I bought the Zision and although it cuts straighter than Fiskars...it furs up the edge of the
papers. Cardstock cuts fine but the blades seem to blunt quick and are not easy to find. I got round the furry edges
by using a sanding block. Now I have resorted to using a steel rule, cutting mat and a sharp craft knife. I am sick of
wasting good money on all these cutting tools that don't really "cut it" :o) I have heard negative comments
on them all!!! My best cutter buy was a little cutter I bought in Poundland for £1 that fits in a ringbinder and I use
for card-making and quick mats. For scrapbooking I recently invested in the large Anna Griffin cutting mat with all the
angles marked and I am loving it. If I need to cut loads at once I will get out my guillotine cutter...heavy...but
cuts straight every time! -- Take care, Marilyn (Scotland UK) See my LO's and other stuff here:

eyeballed everything. I got one of the large Fiskars ones on Ebay and so I use that if measurement is essential (now I'm

Posted by Klara on Mon Jun 12, 2006 10:30 AM Post subject: Thank you for scrapbook supply shopping advice...
Hello everyone, I first posted here in April this year, asking about scrapbook shopping advice. I live in the UK but
my husband was stopping over in LA for a day recently and wanted to go scrapbook supply shopping for me. Thank you
everyone for all the advice - it was greatly appreciated and helped us to plan the trip. It was very successful! I
would especially like to thank Angie for advice on scrapbooking shops in the Torrance area. It was very useful and
absolutely perfect - my husband planned his one day in such a way that he managed to go to all of the local shops! He
went to Jo-Ann's, Michaels and two local stores. Jo-Ann's just had a sale on all of their embellishments, albums, a lot
of papers and punches. I made him a long shopping list (taken from the shops' websites) with the pictures of the kind
of things I would like, and the prices. My husband was acting on strict instructions from me: "If in doubt, DON'T
leave it in the shop!" Well, he fulfilled these instructions to a T and came back with A LOT more than I expected!
We joked that it was lucky he was allowed two pieces of hold luggage! Luckily, he knows my scrapbooking style quite well
and chose good things for me. Best of all, it all was only a fraction of the UK cost, some things, because they were on
sale, were a fifth or less of their UK prices! He brought back a lot of alphabets, papers, albums, foam and magnetic
stamps, US magazines, all kinds of embellishments, value packs of brads & eyelets, some Quickutz dies... I feel
like a kid at Christmas... but now I have a "hard" task ahead of me: I have to spend a lot time
"looking" at these things to "familiarise" myself with my new stash... so that I know what I have
and can find "that perfect little embellishment" fast! And now... it turns out my father is going to the US
soon too! He is going lecturing at universities in Houston and Boulder, Colorado, for 2 weeks and offered to go
shopping for me too... How can I refuse an offer like that??? Klara

Klara, If you still don't have my email, please let me know- my computer says sent, but they're going to limbo
somewhere. Sounds like your DH did a wonderful job. JoAnn's is my favorite of the big stores, because they have the
greatest variety, and they have their own line of scrapbook stuff. Michael's has some stuff that no one else carries.
I'm planning a trip to Archiver's (a roughly two hour drive) in the next week or so. I've never been there, and I've
heard they're wonderful. I can't wait to see for myself. Enjoy your new stash! Mel K "Klara"

Gina I want to go on vacation with you. You take lots of cool stuff with you. My two favorite things, the beach and
scrapbooking! Sounds like you had lots of fun. -- Cathy So. California http://photos.yahoo.com/rusks 2006 Pages: 40

always included a lot of crafts by our group. We make cards, watercolor, glue shells on whatever can't get away, etc. I
decided that this year I would scrap as my primary craft. My husband takes lots of digital photos, so we took a photo-
printer. I bought a bunch of beach-theme and beach-palette papers, stickers, and ribbon. I decided to use an 8.5 x 11
format so that I can easily scan the pages to share with the rest of our group. Since we are a crafty group, we take
things to the beach that aren't part of the usual beach "equipment"... like a big Fiskars paper-edger with
many decorative blades, a Xyron, a Sizzix and dies, and just about any smaller tool you can think of. We coordinate who-
takes-what via email. We pack a few clothes, but lots of craft supplies! I now have 27 pages that just need their
titles and some journaling. I decided that I'd do that part here at home with my regular computer and printer. I have 3
or 4 more layouts to do to finish it up -- some photos weren't taken until the last day, so I couldn't do those actually
at the beach. Plus our restaurant photos are kind of dark ... I need to edit those to bring out the details. So I'll
have 30+ pages when I'm done. My new technique was using ribbon with the Xyron to make border stickers. Filmy,
lightweight organza ribbon *will* work, but it is a pain to keep it from tangling in the Xyron! Heavier ribbon like
twill works great, though! I've been keeping a diary of our vacations for years, so the scrapbooking just extends that.
This was such fun! When I get it finished and scanned I guess I'll have to get a Webshots account so I can share it with
this newsgroup. After all, you are what inspired me to scrapbook in the first place. Gina[/quote:005b9ce4e1]

Hi Laura, Welcome to RCS. I hope your newfound fab will turn into a lifelong love of scrapbooking! I love rub-ons (but
you do have to find a brand that works properly) they're so easy and stylish. Sounds like you had a terrible
"brand" that doesn't really know how to make their product. Don't give up on them. Buy from the different
companies and conduct your own research to see who's product works then stick with those and trash the rest. I also
enjoy alphabet stickers and even have a set of punches that I can use to punch out individual letters that make up words
or phrases from different scrapbooking papers... those are my three favorite techniques. Of course I should mention
that if one of the reasons you are scrapbooking is to preserve for the future then you'll want to be sure and use your
own handwriting in your books as well. Have you ever read an old letter from a grandparent that you loved and
recognized instantly their handwriting... it makes you feel closer to that person (even when their handwriting is
terrible it's still special and meaningful). Melissa in Seattle Washington, USA

Posted by Judy SA on Sun Aug 20, 2006 7:06 PM Post subject: Re: What came first - the Layout or the picture?
Kate, all those LO's look wonderful and captures the essence of the moments beautifully. I'm still deciding what my
"percentage" is, because if I have to be brutally honest with myself - I do think twice about taking a
picture, since I've been scrapbooking. I think digital photo's also makes a difference these days - it's so easy to
discard those that are not just "perfect" by simply deleting them. I think a lot of charm gets lost in the
process. Just my 5 sent! ;))) Judy, SA "a-scrapbooking-diva" <happy2scrapbook@aol.com> wrote in

photo came first. Then again I take so many pictures of Sarah, for example, that I have layouts in mind based on the
accessories I have on hand. It is a 50/50 split for me. Truly I take pictures for the fun of it and then if they speak
to me (based on the papers, die cuts, stickers, etc on hand) then the layout occurs. Only one layout was done
specifically without pictures then I added pictures later. It was this one:
http://community.webshots.com/photo/286935459/1401877250032555428NdayhO However the pictures that came first then the
layout was this one: http://community.webshots.com/photo/286935459/1448865846032555428mlXiYG The one that had the
pictures first but not the perfect layout in mind (until I was RAK'ed by Dave) had to be this one:
http://community.webshots.com/photo/540440847/1540452995032555428TYrIQE Based on a layout in a magazine had to be this
one as I copied the format exactly but using my own embellishments:
http://community.webshots.com/photo/286935459/1475333802032555428NNqTZy But then again my favorite 50/50 split has to
be this layout as the journalling spoke to me first and the photos just worked:
http://community.webshots.com/photo/286935459/1475333804032555428BzlOPL# So it really depends on what is working in the
back of my brain. Kate PS great question by the way, made me really really think. I'm really a 50/50 kind of girl.

them all this afternoon... the only things missing in the pics are the matching pens that I put with the clipboards and
notebooks - I tied them to the clipboards with ribbon so they can't get lost. All the 'base' items came from the Dollar
Tree, and all the embellishments were from my stash. I tried to use up some of my 'scrap' papers rather than cutting up
whole new sheets, and I'm quite pleased with how most of the items worked out. So here they are: - Address book -
http://community.webshots.com/photo/2573576970015899315xrVPSf The spine is photocopy paper, and the photo of Ayers
Rock/Uluru came from an old desk calendar I found when I cleaned out our bookshelf. (next photo shows the back of the
book) - Romantic photo frame http://community.webshots.com/photo/551293044/2286156970015899315DQpIGg I realised that
this frams was just the right length to hold an 8-1/2x11 sheet of paper if it was trimmed at one side... so I printed
the bible quote in the center, trimmed it up, and then cut the photo mats with the oval colluzzle... if nobody chooses
this for a prize I'll be putting two of our wedding photos into it :) - Little blue journal Front -
http://community.webshots.com/photo/551293044/2712868910015899315sOHjaq back -
http://community.webshots.com/photo/551293044/2927075170015899315gKZEYb I was delighted with how this came out. I used a
single sheet of beautiful 8-1/2x11 patterned paper to cover the notebook, and then decorated it with rubons and stickers
and a little tag. The butterflies on the back cover are cut from a wallpaper border. Pink clipboard Front -

http://community.webshots.com/photo/551293044/2135497160015899315MpsZPZ I've already shared this so no need to explain
further - I just wanted to take photos of it in natural daylight instead of by lamplight... Green clipboard Front -

http://community.webshots.com/photo/551293044/2340503380015899315MKGvmw Another one I'm delighted with... I did the back
first using tissue paper and paper napkins, and then I made a patchwork-style collage on the front using lots of smal
cardstock strips leftover from trimming up photo mats, and patterned paper left from cutting out envelopes. The buttons
on the back are vintage from a friend - they're not in very good condition but they were good enough for this! The front
was finished with rubbon words and a few stickers. Altered pictureframe. This was a good idea but I'm not very pleased
with how it turned out - the cardboard base frame was very low quality and it's not straight, so the paper inside slides
around. I might toss it in the trash if nobody claims it because I'm just not happy with it :( Original frame (with a
couple of extra panels cut out - the bottom was originally ALL squares)

http://community.webshots.com/photo/551293044/2245853070015899315ABzczQ Lastly, this little altered addressbook was for
a swap and it's what gave me the idea of doing altered prizes for the church... it's very simple but it was fun to do
and the plastic slipcover makes it look great. http://community.webshots.com/photo/551293044/2710806550015899315zhdQID

find out any information due to the new privacy laws) I also find myself second guessing myself on the structure fire
runs. So I made a worry box. I took the beautiful altered book that April made for me and used it for inspiration.
Since most of my worries are from work it is, of course, firefighter in design. I painted the inside red, place an
ambulance sticker, a firefighter sticker and 2 small dice. The outside is decopodged with firefighter papers, 3-d
embellishments, gold UTEE here and there. On the inside lid is the title of the box (what else but "Worry
Box") and what I hope to achieve from writing down my worries and placing them in the box. April thank you so much
for the altered book, it was a wonderful source of inspiration. I decided to do this box about 8:30 tongiht and
completed it at 11:30pm. I think it turned out pretty good. Though since it's well past my bedtime I may just be
delusional! (especially since we were up all night and I've been up since 5 am yesterday morning!) LOL I'll post
pictures tomorrow on my webshot account. -- Kenda (remove NOSPAM to reply)

M-C that album is fabulous! I really like all the color combos, the page for the birth certificate, hospital braclets
and all...and the calendar pages, and especially the corners you cut for the pictures to be inserted! Are they sized for
4x6 pictures? Did you use some sort of corner punch for the different designs? Really Cool!!! I am sure they will be
delighted with it!! Linda M-C wrote: [quote:19f0f7b24e]Well I am finally able to share the album. I hope that they

Thanks Marilyn. It is a corner adorner. It makes it easy for my SIL to slip the pictures in when the month comes
around. In many cases I put a contrasting color under the corners so they would show up nicely until the pictures are
slipped in. Extra work, but I thought it looked more finished, LOL! I know, I'm a nut! -- M-C - - - - - Visit the

What a beautiful album M-C. Gives me some great ideas for a similar album I'm planning to do for a friend of mine. I
just need to buy some paper. Believe it or not I just have one sheet patterned paper left after my last project..
Especially like the calender idea. It's a great way to inculde all the things the baby does. Susanne "M-C"
