and held good wishes for her and I can't thank you enough for that. She had a ton of interviews, but many wanted
evening hours in addition to weekends or started really early in the morning which didn't work with getting her son to
day care. She finally received a voice mail on her cell phone from someone who had gotten her resume from another
dentist. She spoke for 40 minutes on the phone and then had an in person interview two days later. She really wanted
to do well on the interview and talked to my DSD about good luck charms. Well, the DSD told her to take a picture of
herself and paperclip a dollar bill to it and put it in her purse that she'd take to the interview. Well, she didn't
want to take any chances so she used a $5 bill instead. She was offered the job on the spot - and starts tomorrow!
Frankly, I don't think she needed the charm, but who am I to tempt the fates! She would have liked a higher salary but
they gave her $2 more per hour than they were offering and she took $3 less. She works from 9 to 5 on mon, wed and
thurs and 9 to 3 on tues which she could not turn down. No nights, no weekends. It was too good to pass up. I agree!

Several of you asked about the BOM patterns from the last two years that I did that are shown on my web site. Well,
here is the link. http://home.gci.net/~rainbowmoose/pattern_page.html I made another page and posted the patterns for
each one BOM. I hope they show up okay. You might have to save them and then place or open them in another program to
enlarge them a bit for readability. The best images were just way too big to post for anyone to download. Sorry about
the black smudges along the sides of the images. My scanner "senses" the edge of the document and without me
making black marks on the pages, some of the words were being cut off. I am questioning myself the page for December 3
on the 2003 patterns. It is a page of the actual templates and I don't think they are going to print the correct size.
I will print at work tomorrow and test them and let you know. BOM 2002 directions never included a fabric list but the
colors were a cream on cream, pinkish, maroon, green print, blue and a paisley print. BOM 2003 the first page included a
fabric list. I also included the directions that I use to make flying geese. For me at least, these are the easiest
directions yet, so that I get nice even shapes. There is one mistake in my description though. You end up with four
units, not two. If I choose to cut off the under corners I sew them and then have half-square triangles and no wasted
fabric. If you need or want hard copies, let me know and I am sure that we can work something out. Steve Alaska P.S.
Kathy, I hear you loud and clear on the husband in the hospital so far away. A year ago this week I got a call from my
guy on Friday morning and by Sunday morning I had arranged sub plans, taken care of things around the house and made
arrangements and travelled all the way from Anchorage to Portland, Maine. One week later, minus a gallbladder, and a
wee bit of pancreatitis still lingering, we were at least on our way home. What a week. Hang in there. I know it will
all be better before you know it. [/quote:f7fcdaf7fd]

Aren't QIs wonderful? 'Dorable Dora is constantly on the watch for unsavory critters. I live in town so I don't have
to worry about scorpions coming indoors, but in a mobile home court you never know what may turn up. In the 8 years
we've been here Dora has dispatched 2 roaches, a cricket, a few flies, a spider and innumerable "miller
moths" and anything else that moves. I'm always grateful. However, I suspect that she plays with the poor things
until they wear out. If she seems bored, I can always let in another "miller moth" to entertain her in the
evening. This part of Arizona is home to a small, nearly transparent variety with serious venom. But (knock wood) no
sign of any yet. I buy fabric at yard sales when I can, and always shake it out before bringing it into the house. As
I say, you never know. I bought a T-shirt at a State Park last year and when I unfolded it at home, there was a
largish Arizona Brown spider hiding in the folds. This variety of spiders are related to the Recluse spiders and a
bite can cause nasty problems. I disposed of that one very quickly! Charley deserves a special treat! He sounds like
a champ. Kindly convey my congratulations to him. Dora says, "Yow!" -- Carolyn in The Old Pueblo If it

Hi Carolyn, Yes, I know the type of scorpion you mean. I think the only place they are native here is in the southern
most tip of NV. However, I have heard they can come in on shipped lumber. Tell Dora to be very careful! She sounds
like she wouldn't hesitate to take one on. Another good kitty. :-) Michelle in NV --

Posted by Liz MacDonald on Thu Sep 21, 2006 3:05 PM    Post subject: OTT-LITE - Great Customer Service

This is a public commendation for the OTT-LITE company for excellent customer service. I've had their Arial lamp for
over three years. http://www.ott-lite.com/productdetail.asp?product_id=62 A few days ago, the hinge at its
"elbow" broke, and the lamp top fell to my cutting table. I was in another room, and heard the crash.
Fortunately the bulb didn't break. The warranty is for a year, but I got online to their customer service contact. I
asked if I could get a replacement for the plastic piece that broke, and offered to send a picture of it. Meanwhile, I
took the lamp apart so I'd be able to replace the piece. Within a day I had a reply. She asked for the picture.
Within hours of sending the picture, she told me they didn't have the part. If I sent the serial# and manufacture
information from the base, she'd send authorization to return the entire top of the lamp and they'd send me a new one.
I pay postage both ways. I'm thoroughly pleased. I like their product and how they stand by it. Liz Megerle

Don't use X-News, don't like it. But maybe what you need is a better news server. I use SuperNews @ about $20/month
but if you don't download binary files (I do), you can get a much cheaper rate. There are quite a few premium servers
around, I just happen to like this one as they are super reliable and the tech help is both free and high quality, and
also the posts stay up nearly forever (there are 90,918 older messages that I have not downloaded). TeraNews has a
free subscription that might be just what you need for simply reading newsgroups. HTH -- Carolyn in The Old Pueblo

With five people, one shower, and a totally anal about cleaning kiripet, I think the thing would run us broke on

water. I know kiri sprays the thing as well, and I am pretty sure nobody else does. It works. Besides, we have a a
hanging caddy, shelves and pockets held up by sucky cups, three razors stuck on the wall, and two nets of bath toys in
there. I don't reckon it would do it all any good to be sprayed with cleaning products religiously. NightMist thinking

This week, DH and I have been wallpapering a tiny bathroom. There is not one window, door, light switch or corner in
that room that is true, level and square. Before we were half begun, both of us made the movie 'Grumpy Old Men' look
like a picnic. In the middle of wallpaper glue dripping off our elbows like slime and a glare on the wallpaper that
made it impossible to see and both of us trying to hold an edge off the wall until we could get it 'plumb', the phone
started ringing. And ringing. And ringing. The Yorkie came into the bathroom and began dancing and barking. He
Knew that one of us was supposed to make the phone hush and tell him if somebody was on his way over to rub the Yorkie
belly. Saturday morning, DH's sister Annie was up making coffee. Her hip broke and she would have been lying on
the kitchen floor until her husband Oscar woke up. Their big (and quite uppity) Siamese went in the bedroom. He
relentlessly walked up and down on Oscar until he surrendered and went to see what the cat thought commanded his
immediate attention. Thank God for that precious big old kitty. Annie and Oscar are doing very well now. DH and I
have the wallpaper done and can answer the phone in a timely manner. The QIs are pleased. Polly

the dispute was settled after I sent three separate copies of the download information, I'm left with a sour taste [and

If I were to go to a website like yours and happened to see, in super extra large font, in red, or maybe even flashing,
the words: "We will be away from the Xth to the Yth of July (or August or whenever). If you wish to place an
order during that time you may, although we don't advise it. Your order will be filled by the Zth of whenever."
I would probably wait until the "Zth" to place my order. However, that supposes that your average customer

to use is as a body clay, and it is plastic enough as-is to form, then I'd suggest just firing a few small samples to
various temperatures/cones and see what happens. My garden clay, for example, fires a light brick red color at
earthenware temperatures, up to maybe cone 1 or 2. But at cone 6 is is completely melted into a puddle. Another
common problem, which also afflicted my clay, is lime inclusions. These show up as white flecks in the body after
firing, and when they then pick up humidity from the air they expand and pop out, taking chunks of the body with them.
Ugh! You can solve the lime problem by sieving to 80 mesh or finer. If the clay is otherwise acceptable but too sandy,
you might be able to remove a lot of the sand by some sort of settling method. In either of these cases, you will need
the clay in dry powdered form before you start; it's very difficult to get damp or wet clay to dissolve. I ended up
drying mine over the kiln, then broke it up, sieved out the sticks and pebbles through an old window screen, and then
added it to water. To remove sand, you probably want to add a lot of excess water, stir it up well, and let the sand
settle before you pour off the clay and water. May take a few test runs to find out how long to settle... you don't
want the clay to settle out with the sand. I my case, however, I finally decided that the best use for the clay was as
a glaze at cone 6. I just sieve it at 110 mesh (one of those reuseable plastic coffee filters) and use it all by
itself. Makes a rich brown "Albany slip" glaze that has become one of my favorites. Plus, it will last a lot
longer as a glaze than as a body, important if you consider all the work to process it. And it still has that
"personal touch" because you dug it yourself! Best regards, Bob Masta dqatechATdaqartaDOTcom

They spend like drunken sailors. I'm more conservative than they are. As for what neocons are, defining them is an
ongoing project, because they tend to morph over time. It started in the '60s, when Irving Kristol and Norman
Podhoretz, among others, broke away from liberal politics by proposing that the US should re-shape the Middle East by
military action, and trumping the idea around Washington via _Commentary_ magazine, which had a big influence in the
capital city. Then it was domesticized by D.P. Moynihan with his "benign neglect" theory for dealing with the
problems of the ghettos. The real mainstream, though, is still about foreign policy, and it's fundamentally hegemonic

traditionally conservative areas far beyond Wolfie's and Rummy's intellectual Machiavellian set, particularly in those
areas where they drive their pickup trucks to church and wear gold braid on their black baseball caps (not in church,
though). The appeal stems from the fact that most of them have hardly travelled outside of the country, except those
who were sent overseas to kill people, and think there are entirely too many non-Americans out there. That's our

When the cans stand for a long time, the heavy part of the paint settles to the bottom. When you shake the can, it is
SUPPOSED to remix it, but it is quite possible that some of the heavy part has built up in the dip tube, and does not
remix. I have never done this, but I wonder whether storing the cans up-side-down would help. One thing that does
help is to shake the can prior to use, in a stream of hot water. The heat thins the paint, and raises the propellant
pressure in the can. This is particularly useful if the can has been stored in a cold garage prior to use. Don't do
what one friend did: he put it in a coffee can of water on the stove, and left the room. The bottom of the can blew
out--the can shot up vertically and damaged the ceiling. The thrust broke the cast iron stove grate. And of course--
paint everywhere.

From now on we will stock clean underwear in various sizes. A life changing experience took place here yesterday
involving a 10" grinding wheel on a 3 hp pedestal grinder. Roger put a new wheel on after "ringing" it.
He let it run a minute or so and with no obvious vibration, he touched a piece of scrap angle iron to the wheel and
felt a bit of bounce. While he was locating the dresser, the wheel broke into three large pieces with a gun-shot like
noise. Roger had a look of seeing a ghost...his own! He said a few seconds either way, he would have been in range.
This is the first time I've ever seen a 10" wheel go. In the post-mortem, we find that the grinder is
mathematically 40 rpm over max, not sure of actual. So, we got the speed back in line and started to think how this
type of thing could be avoided. Is there a better procedure? Isn't this whole situation out of the box? 40 rpm? I
can't believe it was a speed issue.

minute or so and with no obvious vibration, he touched a piece of scrap angle iron to the wheel and felt a bit of
bounce. While he was locating the dresser, the wheel broke into three large pieces with a gun-shot like noise. Roger
had a look of seeing a ghost...his own! He said a few seconds either way, he would have been in range. This is the
first time I've ever seen a 10" wheel go. In the post-mortem, we find that the grinder is mathematically 40 rpm
over max, not sure of actual. So, we got the speed back in line and started to think how this type of thing could be
avoided. Is there a better procedure? Isn't this whole situation out of the box? 40 rpm? I can't believe it was a
speed issue. [/quote:6efcbac3c1] Free speed of your grinder (1800 RPM? for a 10 incher) is a function of line
frequency. Motors develop RPM proportional to frequency (1800 or 3,600 rpm) when unloaded, their "rated speed"
is stated for the rated load. When a motor slows down, the difference between free speed and actual speed (called slip)
makes electrical field inside develop torque. At almost zero slip (free spinning) the torque is almost zero, just enough
to overcome air and bearing resistance. I do not think that it is overspeeding, it just spins at idle speed. I would
look elsewhere. Glad that everyone is alright. i

Wes S [/quote:71d1ffad1b] No. The wheel poped after the grind test that was only to see how much the wheel needed
dressing. There was no human fault here that I see.

5" shieve and the shaft has a 3-1/2" shieve so the rpm was 2543 and the wheel was rated at 2500.

Pretty obviously some flaw in the wheel. Didn't help that you were pushing the speed to the max. SOP is to run a new
wheel for several minutes with no load, assume that it might blow in the first couple minutes of actual use. Sure is
exciting if it does blow even if you were expecting it. As for the clean underwear, when I was a young'en working in a
fab shop, we were inside an 8' diameter steel tank doing final weld and cleanup. My partner was running a large air
grinder (think 3hp to 5 hp), with a 5" stone and no guard (pre OSHA). It caught an edge, blew up. Problem with a
tank is that the chunks of the stone get several tries at doing damage to your body before they stop bouncing. And the
noise just echos. I got out with no injury, my partner caught a chunk off his foot on the third or forth bounce. I
just sat down for about 10 minutes and caught my breath. Tom Gardner wrote: [quote:1724687faf]From now on we will
