Hi Erika, The RCTQ BOM is not actually a swap. The current block is posted the 1st of each month by our wonderful
hostess Danielle. You do not have to sign up, you can work at your own speed, you chose your colors. You do not send
anything to anyone.....your blocks are yours. Swaps are posted by the " swap hostess", she usually will
post first inquiring if there is any interest. If enough people are interested then it becomes final. The swap hostess
determines the size, theme, color, amount and date due. You then make the required number of blocks, mail them to the
hostess and then hopefully, if everyone has come through, you will get the same number of blocks in return. Sometimes
the swap will be for fabric, usually a set theme or color. It's a great way to add to your stash. Happy Quilting

I just loved the idea of that - personalised candy LOL Last year on Friday 13th we had a cocktail party for the
quilters here and everyone dressed to a theme of blacker-than-black. We had a selling party demo on the night and I
had the demonstrator wear a black cat mask and tail and ears, and we all drank far too many cocktails from glasses
encrusted with black sugar. (When I got up in the morning it looked like there were about 2million ants on the carpet
ROFL) I got bowl of black cat jubes to go on the tables. tiny black cat novelties to sit on the rim of the glasses,
and moulded chocolate cats for eveyone to take home. It was so much fun we are going to do it again this year in
October - and I might just have to find someone to forward me some of these for the night. I'll have to think about
what to have writtine on the M&Ms - maybe just "Friday 13th" LOL Any other suggestions? You can only

Welcome to RCS Ros. I did my Wedding album a few years ago. I jut used my favorite color (it was a small ceremony

I love buying plain envelopes (usually cream coloured) and using stickers that kind of match the theme of the card
inside to decorate one corner of the envelope (whether back or front). So if the card has used a lot of gold and
silvery colours, I would probably use a star or two on the envelope. Laura

Melissa - I'm jealous! I need to start on mine Ok - I hope i can help you out....the cards are to be the same size as
a regular playing card - (I think it's 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches). You can use a playing card as a template. I believe
that there are 11 participants in the swap, so make at least 11, I usually do one more, so I can keep one for myself. I
have numbered mine in the past, although you don't have to. I think it's up to you, really. On the back of mine I will
be writing put RCS ATC swap, 11/06. 1/12 (2/12, 3/12...etc). Along with my name, etc. If you are stuck, and get a
chance to come by this weekend, I can show you an example. Hope that helps! Have FUN!!! Jessica Melissa in Seattle

Posted by Melissa in Seattle on Wed Sep 20, 2006 6:47 AM Post subject: Re: Do you buy just for the heck of it?
I would not say that I "buy just for the heck of it" however, I am an impulse shopper. I know in my head what
I have picture-wise that still need to be scrapped. For example, for my now (next month 12) 11-year-old's 6th birthday
party it was a pirate theme, complete with costumes and a treasure hunt. I still have yet to scrap those pages and,
because of the popularity of the Pirates of the Carribean movie there are some really great pirate themed stickers and
embellishments available. I don't know when I will ever get around to actually putting the pages together but when I do
I will have appropriate embellishments to choose from in my stock. Me, buying for the "heck of it" would be
like buying wedding stuff... I have zero prospects for marriage at this time. Therefore I steer clear of the section
even though I'm sure I would be able to buy something that "if ever the day comes" I would be prepared.
Because impulse buying is so easy I try to limit those impulses to themes that I know I already have pictures waiting
for. Melissa in Seattle

Posted by Amy in Springboro on Tue Aug 22, 2006 6:03 PM Post subject: Re: Birthday Pages
Welcome to RCS cuddlynn. I know you'll like the group. You have a great question, but I typically need a photo or two
to inspire my scrapping suggestions. Can you tell us a bit more about the event? Was there a theme? What size is your
intended LO? When you say "page honoring" does that mean you are scrapping a past event? How many photos are
you intending to have on your page? Do you have any papers selected? Here are my suggestions: 1. Scraplift -- find a
page that you like or inspires you and copy the format. Here are some sketch links that were recently posted on RCS:
http://www.dailysketches.com/mediagallery/album.php?aid=1&page=1 http://www.scrap-maps.com
http://www.memorycreators.com/sketches.htm http://www.theshakerbox.com/gallery/showgallery.php/cat/504/password/0
http://pagemaps.com/index.htm http://scrapbook-sketches.blogspot.com/
http://www.creatingkeepsakes.com/ 2. Tags are simple to make using scrap paper and can be as fancy or as simple as you
like. They can be mats for your photos; they can be journal boxes. 3. Journal -- birthdays are life's milestones.
What has he accomplished to this point in his life? What is going on in the world this year? Brads & eyelets are
often fun to create bullet lists. 4. ABC technique -- These are typically album where you have an A stands for
something on one LO, B stands for something on another. Use your boyfriend's name, having each letter highlight a
different word. 5. Timeline LO -- for a school project my daughter created a poster LO for Juliette Gordon Low
(founder of GS in America). Juliette's nickname was Daisey. I created a Daisey template to create a
"garden". Each flower had a photo in the center of the Daisey. The leaves had the year. The flowers were
arranged in chronological order to represent at timeline. For a guy, you could use a car traveling down a road with
street signs. Hope this give you some ideas or inspires others to make more suggestions. Good luck! Don't forget to
share your results with us. -- Amy L. cuddlynn* wrote: [quote:9d1f860974]Hello everyone! I'm a newbie to this group,

Hi, all. I just wanted to share that I scrapbooked this weekend. *doing a happy dance* Boy did it make me happy to play
with all my scrapbook stuff. I am working on a theme mini-album for a friends birthday. I had so much fun. You will
never guess what scrapbook embellishment I used most.... stickers. I surprised myself by using all most a whole sheet
of stickers. Of course I had some really cute stickers and I only used one sticker per page but I still was impressed.

Yes, I am going to do a page of her trip. I got the paper at new LSS that opened in the mall. They mainly had birthday
theme build the bear paper and stickers. She had a great time. They have an outfit for the bears, its an apron that
says Scrapbooker. In the pockets there is a glue stick, scissors, a camera, scrapbook album and something else I think.
I want to go back and make a bear and get that outfit to put in my scraproom when I get it. I was more worried about
taking pictures of my sister then I was about building my own bear. Chrissy

====================================== Torso Centaur: Half-man ... half-horse. An ancient race inhabiting Mount
Pelion. Most popularly known today as Chiron-The-Archer on the astrological chart. A creature with a male torso.
Madrake: A plant with a root that looks like a man. It is said to cry when wrenched from the earth which nourishes it
... driving those who hear its plaintive wail mad. And what does it have in common with the Centaur? Yup. It is a
creature with a male torso. Minotaur. Half man half beast. In this case ... alas ... it does not quite back up my theme
... for the Minotaur had the body of a bull and the head of a man. Ah ... were it only reversed. Were it only that the
creature had the torso of a man. T'ain't to be it seems. But you will see my point by and by. Satyrs. A race of
immortal goat-men. Attendants to Dionysus. Their favorite pastime ... drinking wine and chasing nymphs. It's the chasing
nymphs that is most important here ... for the male name description to equal nymphomania--that most wondrous of female
traits--is satyriasis ... for thems what didn't know this. As to their torsos ... you got it again. The had the torsos
of men. Well ... not completely ... but enough for this tale. There are other creatures that are part human and part
beast. There's the Echidna ... the snake woman. And the Mermaid ... half fish half woman. Do mermaids marry mermen I
wonder? And would those mermen have male torsos? And there's the Siren ... with bodies of birds and heads of women. And
the Sphinx ... a woman-lion-bird creature. No more torsos of men here alas. This last little bit ... for one with less
fortitude than I ... would prove to be an insurmountable conundrum. But I am not dismayed. Let them eat cake, I say. And
let them all have the torsos of men. And let mythology take a new direction as it heads toward modernism. Let us write a
new version to all the old stories. The title? Easy. "Mythology ... According To Moi." Which brings us to
this question. Why all this male torso thing, Benjamin? My answer to you dear souls. Why not? After all ... I have this
Pendant made and signed by Berocal ... made of 18 karat yellow gold ... designed as the torso of a nude male. Most
interesting to see. Worth about $4000. A cute present for your loved one to wear ... dontcha think? For those of you
who are new to this thing called Tidbits...may I direct you to my home page at www.tyler-adam.com where you will
scroll down the left side menu till you get to the area that says Current Tidbits ... and then click on it in order to

====================================== Warrior and Lion The Celts ... considered by some to be fearsome but
fascinating barbarians. They were denoted as being endowed with reckless bravery ... a group extremely fond of

I'm going off on a tangent here. The Celts were also incredible artists. Great makers of jewelry. Great Celtic artwork
flourished from the British Isles to the Iberian Peninsula to Asia Minor. Their influence was far reaching. Their

====================================== The Lotus and The Lotus Position Well ... there's the Position and there's the
Flower ... and of course ... of course ... they're interrelated. In the East for instance ... the Lotus is considered a
symbol of the divine presence in human life ... the expanding flower forming the rosette of the cycles of existence. In
olden times the medieval church denounced the cross-legged stance known as the Lotus Posture as a symbol of paganism and
declared that them what assumed this position were working witchcraft. See the analogy? Perfectly clear and rational ...
n'est ce pas? Lordy lord how I love the logic of human thought. The lotus is also considered the receptive cup of the
feminine principle. Anyone care to venture a thought as to what this means exactly? Its root represents the
indissoluble. Its stem is the umbilical cord. It's seed pod is the fecundity of human creation. My guess is that its
petals represent a spaghetti dinner. I digress here from this fascinating tale for a quick disclaimer. Lest there are
some who might take umbrage at what might inadvertently be misinterpreted as a mocking stance ... I apologize in
advance. This apology is born of experience as I once had a reader who was a warlock and who felt deep resentment over
the fact that I was mocking witchcraft ... a thing which--of course--I would never do. That said ... I shall throw
caution to the winds and boldly venture forth into the inexplicable mysteries of the Flower and the Position. But wait.
I double digress. When someone requests that someone else assumes The Position ... are they talking Lotus? This question
troubles me and I urgently need an answer. And when they make bejeweled figurines of little folk sitting lotus fashion
... how come they always show a male. Why are women not equally represented? I resent this. Stand up, I say. Stand up
and march for equal representation. Women of the world ... unite. Request ... nay ... demand statuettes be made of women
sitting lotus-fashion. It is your right ... it is your obligation ... it is a mishegoss. (This last is Yiddish. You look
it up.) Not only is the Lotus a symbol of divine birth from muddy waters .... it also has funerary meanings ...
implying death. The cascades of logic never cease to flow. For those who need to know ... the Lotus is also considered
the seat of human intelligence ... as well as being representative of the centers of psychic systems. Hmmm. In order to
assume the correct cross-legged position ... the instructions dictate that the right foot be placed on the left thigh
and the left foot be placed on the right thigh. This is clearly opposed to the ever growing popular notion among the
elite radical few who would have you believe that the right foot should be placed on the right thigh and the left foot
on the left thigh. What would we do--I ask--without clear and concise instructions? In addition ... the soles of the

In addition ... the soles of the
feet should be turned up. Yeah right ... try turning the soles down. You'll have to break yer bloody ankles. Still ...
one can never be too explicit. Well ... having ventured recklessly into a world of potential chaos .... having braved
the dangers of living in a world of irrefutable logic and survived ... I return to explain the theme behind all this

Vell, i know about a chap that has one sitting right in his driveway! check out http://www.starfighter.no/ The norwegian
F-104G 637 two seat starfighter are under resturation to operational status! And i like the spits too. And the good old
sabre Always woundered what whould happened if Rolls-Royce had developed the utterly INSANE crecy engine, and
shoehorned it into a spit! The Rolls-Royce Crecy was a 2-stroke 90 degree V12 liquid cooled aero engine of 26.1 litres
capacity, featuring sleeve valves and direct petrol injection. Single cylinder development began in 1937 under project
engineer Harry Wood. It was designed by Sir Harry Ricardo. The first complete engine was built in 1941 and produced 1400
hp. There were problems with vibration and the cooling of the pistons and sleeves. The firing angle was 30 degrees and
15lb supercharger boost was typical. Bore was 5.1" stoke 6.5" compression ratio 7:1 and weight 820 kg. The
thrust produced by the 2-stroke exhaust was estimated as being equivalent to 30% of the power of the engine, and was
exceptionally loud. Unlike most 2-stroke engines, supercharging or turbocharging was used rather than crankcase
compression to force the charge into the cylinder. Stratified charge was used where the fuel was injected into a bulb
like extension of the combustion chamber where the twin spark plugs ignited the rich mixture. Operable air/fuel ratios
of from 15 to 23 were available to govern the power produced between maximum and 60%. The lean mixtures reduced
detonation allowing higher compression ratios or supercharger boost. Supercharger throttling was used as well to achieve
idling. The supercharger throttles were novel vortex types, varying the effective angle of attack of the impeller blades
from 60 degrees to 30. This reduced the power required to drive the supercharger when throttled and hence fuel
consumption at cruising power. The sleeve valves were open ended rather than sealing in a junk head. They had a stroke
of 30% of the piston and were 15 degrees in advance. It was named after the Battle of Crécy, battles being the chosen
theme for Rolls Royce 2-stroke aero engines. There were however no subsequent Rolls Royce engines of this type, and
rivers were used for jet engine names. Sir Henry Tizard was a proponent of the engine as Chairman of the Aeronautical
Research Council. The power of the engine being interesting in its own right, but also the exhaust thrust at high speed
and altitude making it a useful stop gap between engines such as the Rolls-Royce Merlin and anticipated jet engines.
Only six complete examples were built when the research was terminated in December 1945. An additional eight vee twins
were built. Serial numbers were even, Rolls-Royce practice being to have even numbers for clock-wise rotating engines
when viewed from the front. Crecy number 10 achived 2500 hp on 21 December 1944. Subsequently single cylinder tests
achieved the equivalent of 5000 bhp ( holy shi**! ) for the complete engine. taken from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/

This is not a time to worry over the Forsaken or the Goblins of Gnomeregan. The valiant heroes of the Alliance will
triumph over their foes. ahem. Excuse me. What I mean to say is. it's time for the 6th Annual Hallow's End Swap.
This year, instead of swapping fabric, we are swapping sets of blocks, made with Halloween fabric! (This is the *only*
Halloween swap I will host this year) This is my favorite holiday, and therefore, my favorite swap. Participants
should print out these rules for future reference - computers have a habit of "losing" important info like
this just when you really need it! You must e-mail me privately to sign up - posting here to the newsgroup is not
good enough because of all the goblins in the servers. After you e-mail me at FroodBuffy at GriffinsFlight dot com , I
will send you a confirmation e-mail with my mailing address. If you think you are signed up, but have not had a
cheery, personal email from me, you are *not* signed up!! Sign up by August 15, 2006. If you are not signed up by then,
it's too late! While I will be sending confirmation e-mails back to you as quickly as possible, I will be on stash
raids on and off this month. I'll check my mail and get back to you as soon as I can when I return. The swaps need to
be in my bone-chillingly cold hands by September 18th. Here are the Official Rules: 1) We are swapping sets of
quilt blocks, the number to be determined by the number of people who join, but no less than 6, and no more than 10 per
set. (If a large number of people sign up, there may be a chance to swap more than one set. But don't hold your breath
- you don't look great blue) 2) Blocks may be pieced or appliqué. Embellishments should be washable or removable.
(Embellishments are strictly optional). Blocks should have a Halloween theme, either with Halloween fabrics pieced, or
