haven't posted here for ages and lurk occasionally - but I figured I'd show off the damage that Jerri caused by posting
pics of chain maille and romanov chain in particular - http://users.tpg.com.au/cas68/images/watch&bracelets.jpg
<http://users.tpg.com.au/cas68/images/watch&bracelets.jpg> the watch was my version of romanov inspired by
Jerri's pics (so it's all her fault!) and the bracelets are a couple of viking knits I made a while ago, but antiqued
one the same time as I did the watch band and the other is the original colour for comparison. the romanov has morion
and clear 4mm swarovskis in each segment. cas http://www.southall.id.au/

I have one of Cas's viking knit bracelets, with a very large bicone lampwork focal from Booger Beads. I've been
wearing it recently, as I was charged with the task of figuring out what to accent the focal with. Interesting
travels, that focal has had....I bought the bead a year, year and a half ago, I think. Sometime later, I sent it to a
friend in Wisconsin. At some point, she sent it to our friend Cas, down in Oz, and Cas placed it on her lovely,
lovely viking knit. Then Cas sent it back to the states to be tucked into a house-warming box from a small group of
wonderful beady folks.....to me:) ~Candace~ cas wrote: [quote:004bf5b8c4]thanks! i've got a few other knits (from

Posted by DrQuilter on Sun Jul 23, 2006 5:14 PM    Post subject: Re: My Viking Dealer Adding to my Gray Hair

well, you are lucky, in two stores around here they told me the viking warranty does not cover this kind of thing, only
if something breaks.. one quoted 8O, the other 99 + parts... the cheaper one, located inside my JoAnns store sends the
machines to be fixed twice a month, the other told me it would take a week... Debbi wrote: [quote:4df1fcdeb5]I thought
I would take my machine in for her annual physical since the warranty expires next month. When I took it in, the manager
who is the brother of the owner was acting like his usual lazy self. On Saturday, he told me he would not be taking it
to the main store until Tuesday since he did not want to drive up there before then. I should have the machine back by
Friday or Saturday. Since I am under a major time crunch since Sorority sister is not doing well, I decided I would just
bring it back when I finish the quilt. Went home, set up machine so I could work on the quilt only to find that the foot
pedal was no longer in the case. Brother had opened up the case to check in the machine before I decided not to leave
it. By the time I discover this problem, they are closed and do not open again until Monday. I call Monday and am told
in a very rude manner that they don't have my foot pedal. I call the main store and talk to the owner. He asks questions
and says that he will be at the store in Mission Viejo tomorrow, will call me and let me know what is happening. Never
calls me on Tuesday. Wednesday, I call twice. Both times "he is on the phone." I leave my name and number, NO
return call. Wednesday he is out of the store. My GF/next door neighbor who is great at taking nothing from nobody calls
the Mission Viejo store to see how much a new foot pedal costs. "Oh, someplace between $129 and $169. What is wrong
with your pedal?" GF tells him she is calling about me, he then gets huffy, "We are a reputable company. We
don't have her foot. She has it." Bangs down the phone. Well, Husqvarna/Viking better get on the ball and either
open up a new dealership or give the dealership to someone who cares about customer service because I will be telling
all my friends not to use Allbrands. After spending a fortune in that store to be treated this way, and they really
expect that I would upgrade to another machine when the warranty expires? Not on their life! off my soap box.....

I recently went to a Lavender Growers AGM and have orders for three bunches of French beaded lavender flowers, plus a
bracelet of lavender flowers. I am still working on that idea and will most likely make a sterling silver base and
twine the flowers between two levels of the wire. Am in the second week of school holidays so have made two viking knit
SS necklaces and three kimihimo braided necklaces. one with seed pearls which looks great. These need to be finished for
the gallery but I am waiting for the findings. Plan another with lovely cream/brown central agate stones but am still
looking for beads to match for the rope. Have ordered from Rio Grande for the first time for the clasps. Most of the
materials I use are not available locally. Sterling silver clasps and cones. Mastex thread I am still searching for but
couldn't locate at the big craft show last weekend. Cheers, Jan

Thanks to REC beads I knew a lot of the names to look at. For me, the highlight was meeting beading people and seeing

I was asked if I had a photo of the sliver flowing bracelet and went back to the Bead and Button site to check if it was
still there. B/B have next years ad up but have taken down the rest. It was one piece of silver wire, bent back and
forward to make the clasp and hook, mainly in an M shape top and bottom, or hearts if you were neater at bending wire.
Took me two hours to complete, including hammering. I have proudly worn mine and I am not used to wearing bracelets.
Very comfortable. Maybe, the next one will be up to photographing standard. My viking knit necklace is taking time.
Now that I am back at work, my time is only two hours each evening. I am half completed and really enjoying making it.
Next I have my twined and knitted baskets to complete, then my kumihino necklace. Hopefully, my second pieces of work
will be without mistakes. For me, the show was wonderful, the classes, the people, meeting Barb, sorry to have missed
Patti, the items for sale. To have read about things, then be able to handle them was great. Once my credit card
settles down, I now know what to order and what is available. Cheers, Jan
